about the teacher
Jocelyn Mariano Chiu will be a Herricks HS Senior in Fall 2023. She has been a classical harpist for eight years and a violinist for fourteen years, performing at Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center, Adelphi School of Performing Arts, Malloy College, Washington College and Kenyon College with the NY Youth Symphony, Childrens Orchestra Society, Metropolitan Youth Orchestra and the Young Artists Harp Seminar. She is currently principal harpist for the NYYS, resident harpist for the National award winning Herricks Chamber Orchestra and a Chapter Ambassador for the American Harp Society, representing the NY area at the 2023 Summer Institute.

Quality practice is so important. I teach students how to listen carefully and to craft good technique to prevent injury. The time spent in practice builds an excellent musician.
